Mirage Registry Key - Malware ?

I often review my registry using the cmd regedit. A registry key title "Mirage" has appeared on two occasions. When you expand, it says "licence protection." (I understand "licence" is UK spelling for license)

Google states that "Mirage" registry key can be malware. Should add that "Mirage" key most recently appeared within 2 days of a "Reset" of Win8. The only software that had been added was CC Cleaner and Google Chrome.

Any comments/thoughts on this subject are appreciated.

Personally, I would rely more on my malware and/or AV protection regarding your issue because you can Google almost any registry entry and find links to paid malware removal solutions. However, Google did reveal that Mirage VMWare could make such an entry so is there any chance that it was somehow bundled with your laptop software and/or it was subsequently (and inadvertently) downloaded from Sony during one of your post-reset updates?

    Thanks for the reply !

Good point about the correlation between registry entries and paid malware solutions. I reviewed the registry immediately after reset and the mirage key was not present. Also, no updates from the manufacturer were required after reset. As mentioned, only Chrome and CCleaner were added.

Prior to the reset, Norton had blocked a Trojan (can't recall name) while surfing. I did the reset because of a delay in startup (grey screen for just a few seconds) and I felt the computer was running a little sluggish, not that bad, but a little heavy and not as responsive.
