Solved Windows Defender not updating malware definitions

Hi there,

Windows Defender won't update its anti malware definitions... as of now they are a few days old. Manually pressing the "update" button won't do a thing. Also, when trying to update from the cmd prompt, I am told that no update is needed since everything is up-to-date. Also see the attached screenshot.

Does anybody know what's going on?

no, I've some pending updates in the queue, but they're optional though, and non of which explicitly relates to Windows Defender. But just now, I was able to install the latest definitions. Don't know what I've done differently...

Odd, but glad to hear that you were able to update it now.

I usually install my Windows Defender definition updates through Windows Update instead.

The same thing happened to me but now updating normally - not quite sure why though.....
