suspect site

guys.. ran across this by accident, and I'm not sure what to make of it.

malware says I'm clean and avast is currently running a scan.

That would be adware with most likely malware included.

I closed it right away, do you think I'm clean?

I did NOT click install for the record.

You should be fine since you didn't install anything, but I would recommend to delete your cookies and scan your system just to be safe.

I did a quick scan, should I go invasive with the scans?

It wouldn't hurt.

ok, got 'some folders could not be scanned' now I've seen this before, after avast has updated for example, and google chrome did just update itself the other day... should I be worried?

It looks fine. Those would be for your Flash Player settings. Looks like it can't find them. Possibly been deleted.

the only difference is when I launch anything that prompts UAC to say hi.. my system sounds slider on the volume control panel is jacked all the frakking way up but that sometimes happens when I reboot...

am I safe in ruling that an oddity of windows 8?

Looks fine.

You might check for newer sound drivers and modify that volume slider so that it will remember the settings.

see..I do modify it, but it seems to revert every so often. the other sliders stay put..*shrugs*

If that's really a Realtek audio card, try updating to the latest drivers (currently 2.71: if the original driver from first link doesn't work well).

That's a bit weird.
If you plan on re-installing the drivers you first might give it a try with the windows built-in audio driver to see if it works better.

I plan to zero my system out and start virgin when windows 8.1 releases as I plan to upgrade to it, so I'll see if that fixes the audio slider issue and a few minor...nuisances.
