Win 8 and unknown account on security tab properties
Hi all on my pictures and some of my files i got this unknown account under the security tab what would it be? i did update this computer from win 7 to win 8 but that was quite a while ago here is a picture of it showing two instances of this unknown account virus and spyware scan all show up negative.

Hello Tony,
Those could either be user accounts that you deleted, or network users (ex: from homegroup or workgroup) that are not currently connected.
If they are for old deleted user accounts, then it's perfectly safe to remove the "Account Unknown....." entries if you like. Removing them basically just removes access for that unknown user for that specific file/folder.

Yeah, that would be best until you are able to take another look at these when you have all your network devices/PCs connected to see if any may have been from them when it no longer shows as an unknown user.

here is thought i have had these pictures for a long time and they have been on several of my older pc and now this one could those be leftover file permissions that just followed the pictures? there is one network device i dont have anymore actually 2 in fact my old google tv and my xbox. Also my kids pc is on my network but were not connected i have it off.

That could be it as well. NTFS permissions will follow the file when it's saved on a NTFS formatted drive.
