    Deleting McAfee

Folks, if that blasted MacAfee can fight viruses as well as it fights Windows Defender, it is one great program. My new Windows 8 Spanish laptop had MacAfee installed, and even people who read Spanish couldn´t understand what it was saying. I have a subscription, but no one can find out how long it lasts.

Every site on the web told how to get to Defender, but when I tried it, MacAfee stopped me. I got into the program, and there is no procedure for shutting it down. I installed Win Patrol and de-activated MacAfee, and it kept running. But Win Patrol has a tab labelled ¨Recent." From there I was able to get "Delete on next start-up." That helped, but MacAfee wouldn´t give up.

I went to Add/Delete Programs, and it hollered all over the place, but it allowed me to delete MacAfee. Then a warning appeared, telling me to press the icon and Defender would turn on. I did, it did, and everything is working fine.

I looked up MCPR on the web. I got two dead-end sites that asked me to rate the sites.

Actually, McAfee coming out with an interesting technology for protecting Windows/OSX systems, called McAfee Deep Defender; quote:

"We're getting rid of malware signatures. All our systems now work on behavior and reputation," he said. "Customers no longer have to worry about botnets. We will take care of that for them. We can catch things that no one else can in the industry,"
It relies on Intel's CPU virtualization to start the Deep Defender, that in turn starts up and controls Windows kernel access. Instead of trying to protect Windows and apps with software, McAfee/Intel go for the hardware based protection.

It is an interesting approach, but McAfee's track record does not warrant much confidence. Hopefully, Intel will have some influence and make this solution trustworthy....

McAfee LiveSafe ? in System Security
Hey all, I was wondering what you all think of the McAfee LiveSafe suite... I have like 10 computers, so the $79.99/year fee for unlimited licenses is really appealing. I am currently on Norton 360 and it's expensive to renew, but I like it. Have been test-driving a few and I came across this one...
McAfee security in System Security
I picked up a Lenovo Flex 15 lap top and it has McAfee security installed. Being brand new to Win8/8.1 I don't now if this is a resource hog or not. I run MSE with MBAM and SASW on my Win7 machines. This McAfee appears to run pretty good, but I'm just starting to learn W8.1, so far I like it,...
