    I got hacked

(I don't know if this is the right category to put this in. I skimmed them over and this one seemed to fit)

So basically a hacker took control of my computer for about 10 to 20 minutes, until i turned off my computer. Afterwords, unplugged my ethernet cord, and started up my computer. I did disk cleanup, and also ran system restore.

Now (ethernet plugged back in), I cannot run some programs because it says i'm not an administrator, but I still have the admin status on control panel.

Are there any additional precautions I should take/ solutions to my current issue regarding admin?

first of all see user and account safety option in windows 8 and then see how many accounts are there if there is any additional acc try that acc to delete and also create a new account and make that admin after u made that acc admin delete the previous(first)account and i hope that this will help u...if it doesnt i m sorry i will try google it and get a answer for u...

Thanks for the reply. I'm anticipating that I'll have to factory reset my computer anyway, just to make sure any malicious software is removed from my computer, so i'm probably just going to go straight to that. I've heard a few people also re-install their operating systems after getting hacked, is this really necessary?

    Yep! Restore it!

It doesn't take too much and you're safer that way.

Since the admin issue seems to be having something to do with the accounts on the computer, it begs the question "Does factory restore affect the accounts on the computer?"

What do you mean? That should wipe all accounts out.

    Try this:
    Refresh Windows 8

Your files are kept, I suggest you clean all the temp files (with Ccleaner for example), then initiate the process. You will loose all programs and the old Windows, to start over clean.

I'm just gonna system reset, just to make extra sure that all malicious software is gone in case they hid something in my personal files.

Thanks, that was the answer I was looking for.
Since I haven't had the computer for long, It won't take too long to redownload all the files I had anyway.
