    How to find out if...

Well, I am new to windows 8 but anyhow, here's the question.
How can I find out or detect if I have a "keylogger" running?
And how can I prevent my computer from catching any viruses, spyware and other infections?

Make sure Windows defender is alive and well
Download Malwarebytes free version and run it every few days
You can purchase the pro and set up customized scans
Use common sense and stay away from the ads on the browser
Do not open emails that look wierd
    Stay away from porn sites
If you really need to see porn, go out to the store and purchase a magazine

I guarantee you will not get a computer virus that way

Thanks. I thought i ask because there was a video of this game i play (flyff) and they have
a mod for free money in the game. I think it looks legit because of 260+ likes and alot of views (about a thousand?).
And i see like 10+ comments from people saying thanks and it works and see how the video is and what it does.
I just wanted to try it out (worse thing is to lose a free account i made like yesterday, i can make another one anyways).
And if turned out to be a keylogger, i just want to get rid of it if i do happen to get one...if i know how to spot it?

ps-i have dual boot mountain lion and windows 8 on my MBPr.
if keylogger in windows boot, would that affect my mac os x side?

Depends on the virus, but your OS X partition will be fine as long as you don't get a virus that requires you nuke the whole drive. Bootcamp with Windows is the only way Macs get viruses as there are currently no OS X viruses in the wild.

I must respectfully disagree with your statement about Bootcamp and OSX not getting viruses. A Windows virus cannot "infect" a computer running OSX. Both are completely different operating systems.

Mac computers can also be infected with a computer virus. The thing is, it's a very common misconception that Macs are "impervious" to computer infection. OSX holds a small market share, which is one of the reasons why there aren't many programmers writing malicious code for OSX.

Brian6121990, I don't think this forum allows the discussion of software exploitation...

Be aware that many keyloggers go to considerable lengths to ensure that they are not detected. And their developers are always finding new ways to make detection more difficult.

Edit: Keyloggers are detected the same as other forms of malware. But be aware that standard anti-malware products will not detect all of them. Some need more advanced methods.

I can see a bit of that, but if it has to do with security, im sure there is a work around that problem.

The discussion is still about exploiting a third-party's software (FlyFF). This is not allowed I believe.

The best suggestion I can give in this situation is for you to avoid anything to do with these programs. Those comments and "reviews" are very easy to engineer. You're asking for trouble by searching for such tools.

You are right. And because of that, i have already decided not to even download such a "software" from youtube. But anyways, thanks for the advice.

One more thing, if you wish to test a piece of software without compromising your computer's security, try out Sandboxie. With that program, you can run software in an isolated environment.
