Solved best free AV

hi everyone

I am running windows 8 on my new laptop and wanted to ask which free AV would be the best for me.

if they're truly was a best that is what we would all use. Windows Defender which used to be Microsoft Security Essentials is what many of us here use. others however feel they need more protection and use other applications. you really will have to evaluate your needs try some of the apps and figure out which one you like best

The best free av software for you is the one you feel safe using.
They are all about the same level of protection so it's your choice as to what one to use.
Install one for example Avast free and if you feel it is doing the job stick with it
If you don't like it try another until you feel safe browsing the Web

I recently switched from Windows Defender to avast! because avast! consistently scores higher in independent labs testing than any other free anti-virus

There's is no such thing as BEST free AV. It's all a matter of preference. Different free AVs have different levels of protection and interface. But I would recommend Avast Free.
