Is old antivirus dvd outdated?

I have kaspersky int security 2012 but not used till now. I installed it and activated for one year. But i knew that kaspersky 2013 is available now.so my question is , is that my antivirus outdated or does it works fine if i update it virus defination via net? So please suggest me . Thank you

It'll be absolutely fine mate the new version may have more whistles and bells but the level of protection will be the same . You may find after activetion you are prompted to downoad the new version for free . I use Eset smart security and when a new version comes out if your a subscriber you get prompted to download it. But if not 2012 will sort you for the next 12 months

It means,after updating virus definition,it is as good as newer one. And kaspersky is not asking me to download newer version.so may i continue with this old one?

YES as long as your virus definitions are up to date your good to go . Dont waste any money on the new version stick with the old till your subscription runs out
