Kaspersky blocks Java in the browser

    Hi

I have Windows 8 Pro running and also Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 as my anti-virus. Kaspersky is blocking the JRE plugin from running in the browser.

    How do I enable it?

Java currently has a bug, it's advised that you turn Java off for the mean time until its fixed, this is why your Kaspersky is probably blocking it.

well, the bug has been around for a long time. it's just now that it's getting all the press because Oracle has been slow to fix it.

I haven't used Kaspersky, but I would think that the program has the ability to unblock programs as desired. Check the interface out carefully.

Open kasperky settings/application control and click on "Applications" and find folder "Oracle America". Right click on every file in that folder (one by one), choose "Application rules", click on "Exclusions" and check "Do not scan network traffic".

    Hi there
With Windows 8 Why on Earth would you need to install Kasperky or any other 3rd party AV package -- the built in AV software in W8 - for home users -- I'm not talking about securing 1000's of computers on huge international large company networks-- is more than adequate -- anything else is not only redundant - it can even be LESS secure since it switches off part of the main security that's in the OS kernel itself (Windows defender) -- apart from adding extra overhead and complexity to the system.

The name given to the new security system in W8 was rather badly chosen -- Windows defender -- since this did almost NOTHING in W7.

In W8 it's a totally re-written and re-vamped version of MSE (Microsoft security essentials) which now resides as part of the core kernel code.

If you try and install AV software on top of this Windows defender will usually switch itself off (possibly due to another piece of totally bo---cks EU / US "Anti Monopoly ideas ) so it's up to you whether you think the WRITER of the OS has a better chance of maintaining the security of the OS or a 3rd party supplier who has to either dubiously reverse engineer Ms's security logic or use standard published windows API's which any hacker could exploit without even batting an eyelid.

    Cheers

Have you checked with Kaspersky in their forum or direct contact ?

If not, click on the K icon and click Support or Users Forum in the lower corner.

Uninstall all versions of Java on your PC. Delete the Java folders in C:\Program Files (x86)\ and C:\Program Files\. Rightclick the Kasperky tray icon > 'Settings' > 'Application Control' > 'Applications' > find the trusted groups called 'Oracle' or 'Oracle Corporation' or 'Oracle America' > delete them all. Download the latest Java installer from the official download page (if running 64 bit download both 32 and 64 bit) and install Java. Go to the official 'Test Java' page. Run the applet and it should give you your current Java information (JRE 1.7 update 11 or something like that). If this doesn't work (it should but just in case it doesn't), go back the applications list in KIS > rightclick any .exe in the Oracle program groups mentioned above > click 'Application rules' > go to the 'Exceptions' tab > check 'Do not scan network activity'. Click OK and do this for all those programs. Enjoy!

OK, so I've had this game for years and years. The application Online.exe is required to start Game.exe and yet both are getting a UAC prompt, and I think this is causing the game to stop working before it can initialize. Periodically, I can get through this by accepting UAC and everything...
