Solved How to remove Norton fully/help

They did that a long time ago to make it harder for viruses to disable Norton. If a user is able to easily, so too is a virus.

Well, I haven't advocated Symantec since they don't clean up after themselves on Uninstalls (or even version levels), and even their separately-downloaded Clean-Up Tools still leave little Symantec droppings behind. "Watch out! Don't step in that!"
It is like a tattoo, once you've got one and decide you no longer want it, you'll need some serious work and time to get rid of it all.

Peter Norton

Ray8 said "Norton has been one of the most hated products since inception."

When Dos 6.2 was the main OS, Peter Norton was highly regarded. When they were bought out by Symantec is when the quality began to degrade. Symantec has improved the product in the last 24 months. It is now decent quality. Many programmers write code that imbeds itself and is a real task to uninstall. One example is a widely held backup program. I had to do a clean install to "really" get rid of it.

This is what I have used to completely remove Symantec products... We use Symantec Endpoint Security at work and I frequently have to uninstall/reinstall for testing purposes... Symantec products are better suited for the corporate environment where you have a mgmt console and are managing 10's of thousands of endpoints. Products for home use cannot do this and Symantec is really for the corporate environment. That's my .02 worth...
