    updating the antivirus

I have windows defender + malwarebytes pro installed.

Windows defender updates itself automatically. I am not concerned about that. MS provides the new definitions and it updates.

Incase of malwarebytes for every update it downloads 6~7 MB I don`t know why the size of the update is so high.

So I have scheduled it to update on a weekly basis.

So should I or should I not change this setting?

I need some advice in this matter

A weekly update sounds fine to me. It all depends on how you use your computer. If you frequently visit 'zones on the internet with high contamination risk' then I'd set the update frequency to daily. If you are a casual user weekly updates should do.

You might consider combining it with a weekly scan of your pc, just to be sure.

    I am a casual user.

I had already set it to auto updating once a week.

Then it sounds to me like you've set it up allright. Nothing to worry about

MalWareBytes works in a completely different way than MSE/Defender. It's similar to Symantec Endpoint Protection, whose daily updates are 50-60MB. I don't like to be more than a day out for updates as the Malware just keeps coming!

50 to 60 MB's??? Wow... the must never have heard of compression at Symantec . That is not funny if you have limited bandwith available.

But please tell me, is the risk of Malware really that big? My pc has only 1 infection every 1 to 2 years or something like that. And then always because of a human error of my part.

Yes, new malware comes out constantly as most is "polymorphic" and be slightly changes very often and easily to get past heuristic scanners. That 50-60MB is compressed, it's just a lot of data. You're more sophisticated than mt PC users, some of these people click on every link even if they know better. My father (retired detective) got malware a few months ago by clicking on a link in a bogus email. I asked him why he did it and he said "I was curious"... The users are the reason malware keep proliferating, it just keeps getting worse.

Ok, you've got a good point there! I just had to think about a collegue of mine who screwed up his new computer within 1 day after recieving it. What did he do.... install Java and forgot to uncheck the 'install Ask toolbar' checkbox. It totally wrecked his computer and took over his browser. When I later asked him if he didn't found that at least a bit suspicious he asked no. He wasn't even worried and at first didn't want to do anything about it. Then I made him a 'dummy proof manual' of how to remove Ask to help him.

    So yeah.... you are right.

And to the TS bagavan ==> I hereby reevaluate my advice I gave you earlier. If you have the bandwith available you should set Malwarebites to a daily/ multiple times a day update scheme.

Almost every program I've installed lately has "add-ons" that will install if you're not extremely careful. Some are very carefully hidden and you think you're accepting the license agreement for the program you are installing, but it's actually allowing the "garbage" software to install. Babylon toolbar, WinSearcher, ToolBar, etc... are all garbage programs that spy on you and downloads advertising to your PC, all of which I find very offensive. Even experienced users can accidentally get these garbage programs on their PC and they are very difficult to remove!
