Solved Kaspersky IS

I take it, from posts on this forum, that Kaspersky Internet Security should work ok with Windows 8, even tho' W8 isn't mentioned on the KIS documentation?

I have a 3-user version of KIS 2012, used happily on my desktop and on a previous laptop, both running under Vista. Tried to install on the new replacement laptop, which runs W8, having carefully uninstalled the supplied Macafee as instructed.

However KIS says there is a compatibility prob. Investigating further, it says there may be a virus infection, so manually download and run Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool. Laboriously did so, but still no joy.

Having jettisoned Macafee, I've now dug a hole for myself!

What to do please?

Hello bungleberry I believe that you will have to upgrade to KIS 2013 which is a free upgrade from KIS 2012 as KIS 2013 is windows 8 compatible.

If you have NOT un-installed KIS 2012 yet then you can also just uninstall it from "Programs & Features" but keeping your license/activation information (see below), then installing 2013 afterward.



If you have completly uninstalled KIS 2012 again then you will need to log in to My Kapersky Account to retrieve your activation code or use the activation code printed on the CD sleeve of the boxed version (if applicable) to activate KIS 2013.

I had to grab the removal tool for kaspersky as uninstalling the 2013 IS edition gave me errors,(this may or may not happen to you, it seems to be random) if it gives you an error uninstalling through add/remove programs.. dont force it!

use the removal tool.

be sure to exit the application before running that tool.

Thanks, guys. Following Iownamoneypit's suggestion of converting to KIS 2013 the prob is now solved.
