    Viruses & Windows 8

    Dear All,
I have a question, can we trust Windows defender comes with Windows 8 as antivirus and other threats or we will need an additional antivirus software, because as I know there wasn't any security notifications appear in windows 8 when no any antivirus software installed in Windows 8, as previous windows versions do?

Windows 8 has defender, which contains Microsoft Essentials and even looks like it. It is included and enabled by default. You don't need any third party antivirus.

    Hello there!

Windows Defender has MSE protection built in, and as before with Windows 7, Defender didn't have any notifications other than the ones that Action Center would report. The same goes with Windows 8 and Defender.

BitDefender and Kaspersky Labs tested out Windows 8 and Defender, and it's been found that it can stop 85% of the top 100 bits of malware. Kaspersky Labs also took Windows off their top five list of software with security issues.

    It's trustworthy.

I should point out that when I installed Windows 8 Pro, Windows Defender had not been updated for some time. Perhaps it would have updated it every few hours, but you might want to check on it.

There are also a few settings you might want to change within Defender to make better use of it, such as removable flash drive scanning.

Just type Windows Defender at the Start Screen and you can go into it.

Definitely update it. The install files are only current as of the date Microsoft packaged them.

I think windows defender is good, but I think it might be a good idea to pair it up with a Behavioral Analysis Program like Threatfire: Download Free
