MaxxAudio resets whenever a new video plays

A few weeks ago my headphones stopped working. After many attempts, I fixed it by uninstalling & reinstalling the audio device on my laptop. Ever since, I've been experiencing following problem:

Whenever I play a video in firefox/chrome/... it sounds like the audio settings set by MaxxAudio (equalizer, bass, treble, ...) re-apply, which causes the audio to be severely distorted, as if the bass boost is applied twice. This happens when I play a new video, or resume a paused video. It doesn't seem to happen in regular media players (edit: it does, but it's not nearly as pronounced)

Here's a list of things I've tried:
- updated latest audio drivers (manually, because windows didn't find anything more recent than 2014)
- jacked headphones out & back in
- turned MaxxAudio off & back on
- disabled noise reduction in volume control options

Changing the volume oddly enough fixes the problem, but only temporarily until the next video I play / resume.

Maxxaudio is NOT the PC's sound driver, it is an enhancement to the sound driver.

As you report this only happens with videos in firefox/chrome. Are these videos YouTube and using the Adobe Flash Player? If so, update the Flash Player as it is known to cause many problems.

Also, please fill in the "My System Specs". Helps us to try and help you.

I know, but I figured the first reply would be "update your drivers"...

HTML5 video player. Flash is disabled. Also, I think it happens elsewhere too, but it's much more pronounced (and problematic) in browser videos...

Done, although all I can find for sound card is "RealTek High Definition Audio"...

Go to the Realtek site and download the latest "High Definition Audio Codec" driver. See if that makes a difference.
