When I plug in my headphones, the sound still plays through the speakers! I can hear the sound in the headphones though. I have updated the drivers and set the communication headphones to default but it still didn't work... Please I need help immediately!

I have a HP Pavilion AR5B125 15.6" Laptop with IDT Drivers

Some sound software has options to mute or not mute the speakers when a headset is plugged in. I don't have IDT so I can't say if or how its managed in IDT. Realtek has an option it its control panel for this.

Normally, Stereo Mix is set as the default recording device. Then whatever input device it is used. Don't have to set a specific device. However, I don't think that is your problem.

Has it always acted this way or is this a recent problem?
