Solved No sound from speakers

Hello,

I have an issue with the sound in my Lenovo Z500 laptop, running Windows 8.1.

It has been playing sounds well until a couple of days ago. My son plugged in Sony headphones into the audio jack a couple of times and then the problem sprang up. Even after taking the headphones out of the audio jack, the laptop thinks that the headphones are connected and the sound does not come out from the inbuilt speakers at all!

When I restart the computer (with no headphones connected), I see a message at the bottom right corner of the screen "You just plugged a device into the audio jack"!

I even resorted to reinstalling the latest audio driver... no luck still :(

Can someone help me please.

Thank you.

From your description, it looks like the headphone jack is damaged. Some laptops have a separate "daughter" board that contains the I/O jacks and can be replaced. On others it requires replacing the complete motherboard. Check with Lenovo on your particular model.

I have a Z510 laptop, but do not have any documentation, as it may be similar.

Thank you, fireberd.

Yes, I suspect it is a hardware fault. I restored the OS/laptop using the factory image and still no luck. So I'm pretty confident it is a hardware fault.

Thanks for your help!
