I just got a new Inspiron with Windows 8.1 loaded on it, and I noticed that the sound seemed to "echo" on many different applications. The echo time was very short and gave the sound an annoying "boomy" feeling.
I ran the audio tests found at "Personalization->Sounds->Playback->Speakers/Headphones->Configure" and heard the same problem there. These tests also revealed that sounds weren't isolated to the headphone or speaker they were supposed to be: Audio that should have played through only the left or right headphone echoed very clearly in both.
(After some experimenting I found that the echo time was around 20ms.)
Does anyone know why this might be happening, or know of a way to fix it? Much appreciated.
