Microphone inputs do not work on back or front panel

Yesterday everything was fine. Today I woke up and I had this issue.

The headset I use comes with 2 3.5mm cables that need to be put into both the audio output jack and the microphone input jack. The audio output works fine, however, the microphone input jack does not pick up my voice or anything.

    These are my volume settings:

Everything looks fine there and everything is plugged in fine. I have the latest RealTek drivers installed and my motherboard is the ASUS Z97-K. I checked the BIOS settings and everything seemed fine, it was set on HD audio and was the same before this issue randomly occurred.

Would really like help solving this as it is so frustrating not being able to use my mic. Also, I have tested the mic on other computers and it works fine so clearly something is wrong either with the hardware or software on my PC. Also, this PC is quite new maybe a month so far. Also, I have windows 8.1 64 bit installed.

    Thank you in advance.

Did you do the "Refresh" as I suggested on the Win 7 forum?

After I restored should I reinstall the realtek drivers or should I just use normal windows drivers?

Also should I download from here? Realtek

    or here http://www.asus.com/support/Download...rV4y53ywKS/41/

Just do the Uninstall, in the Device manager, but DO NOT uninstall the drivers. Then restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the sound, using the already installed Realtek drivers.

Those were the two I uninstalled and now I have restarted my pc, however, the problem is still there.

If you're wondering why I don't have the realtek drivers installed it is due to me restoring at a point where I didn't have them installed. I only actually had the realtek drivers after the problem arose and I tried to fix it.

The Realtek sound driver is the one to be uninstalled, not what you show.

Its listed under Sound Video and Game Controllers.

See my listing. It is from Win 7, but Win 8.1 is the same.

Ah, okay. Well it doesn't seem like I have those drivers.

Like I said earlier I do not have the Realtek drivers installed due to the restore point I used and was wondering where to download them from their website or my motherboard's website. The images in the original post are outdated sorry.

OK. You don't have Realtek drivers installed. You only have the generic, basic function, Windows installed High Definition Audio Device.
Download and install the Realtek drivers.
Here is the link to the ASUS downloads.
