I'm using a Dell XPS 12 running Windows 8.1. Connected via USB is a Focusrite Scarlett 18i6, which sends the computer a digital audio signal (the Focusrite is an outboard preamp and analog to digital converter). When I run a DAW such as Ableton Live, I have no trouble selecting the Focusrite as the audio source.
The problem: I want to record footage of me playing using the laptop's built-in camera. When I use the Camera app, it always chooses the laptop's crappy built-in microphone as an audio source. It doesn't give me the option of choosing the Focusrite as an audio source.
I'm guessing there is no way to fix it; there are almost no options for configuring the built-in Camera app. But perhaps there is another Win 8.1 app which doesn't have the same stupid limitation?
