For the love of God, can someone please tell me what the hell is going on with this pile of crap on my motherboard?

I swear, I will never, ever buy a motherboard with the Realtek audio chip on it. I will buy only motherboards with the Creative chip, not the Realtek garbage. I have always been having problems with them. They burn like firecrackers, giving you no time to even boot your pc. My pc is always grounded completely, by the way. It didn't help. Before this, I bought the same motherboard, and right out the package the realtek chip was DEAD. Can you believe it? The level of quality is just... outstanding. It is beyond the levels of quality - it doesn't give a squat about quality. It should have been a sign for me, but I was dumb enough to just replace the motherboard. Not anymore. Now, only creative.

After rebooting my computer, audio from my front panel port stopped reproducing, and now just makes a low humming noise. I plugged my headphones to the rear port, but windows says "Speakers: Not plugged-in".
So, I decided to update my drivers. When I tried to uninstall the old ones, I get this error. I downloaded the drivers from ASUS website, and tried to install them over the old ones, but.. it's the same error again. I tried cleaning the registry, and running the uninstall\install processes from safe mode - same error.

Is my chip dead?

    Why?
First, Creative (SoundBlaster) does not make on-board (on the motherboard) sound chips, only add on sound cards.

Realtek is in the majority of motheboards and is not a problem. I have four PC's, (three home built and one Lenovo Laptop) and all of them have Realtek and it works without problems.

You haven't filled in the "My System Specs" so we can only speak in generalities, not address your specific problems.

If you feel the Realtek drivers are the issue, do not install them. Let Windows install the generic, basic function, High Defintion Audio drivers and see how they work.

If the front panel jacks are suspect, disconnect the front panel connector from the motherboard. It should be labeled HD Audio but could be the older AC97 plug.

If you feel the Realtek hardware is the issue (which I doubt), disable the on-board audio in the BIOS and use a separate sound card.

First, Let me google that for you
which proves that you don't know what you are talking about.

Second, hello, Po-Len Yeh, could you please change your country in your profile to Taiwan, in order to avoid further confusion? Realtek, is, so good so great because it sells well? That's a very strong argument... Cigarettes sell well, too.

I only wanted to know what can I do with this error, and if the low huming sound means that the chip is burned. Why do you need my system specs for that? xD

You are right, with Realtek - it's a thing that you have to FEEL, not understand. This is why Creative will soon DOMINATE the market. Get it?

Are we done being mean to each other? What does this error mean?

Thank you.

(by the way, yeah, the chip burned, which is a usual thing with realtek. get yourself motherboards with something that is not manufactured by realtek, unless you want to have 8 useless 3.5mm ports on your pc. It's the first time in my life I see such a terrible soft\hard engineering where I cannot neither remove or install a driver to a device. Worst PC details manufacturer in history)

I never had a Realtek chip burn on any MBs although on such ancient HW any faults are possible.

This is useless. This topic is out of its proportions now. The audio card is most likelly dead, so there is nothing else to discuss anymore.
