Well we now have lost the will to live, every time windows 8.1 updates we loose microphone functions both internal and external. We have managed to get this back by reinstalling Realtech R2.76.

However this time Realtech will not install, gets to the installing function then times out and comes up with an error message Install Realtech HD high definition drive failure code 0x00005B4 which means nothing to us.

Can anyone out there advise us how to get Realtech installed and keep it installed without it disappearing every time windows 8.1 updates

Cheers

It's a timeout error, something is taking to long, if you downloaded and Saved the installer to downloads, try installing it in safe mode.
