where do i even plug in my headset

so i got an msi gaming z97 micro atx board, but on the io i cant find where the hell to plug in my headset....

there is a mic and the l-output and input well 3 inputs and 3 outputs.
i checked the manual but it didnt say it.

No connection on the board itself to connect the case headset jack to?

Generally speaking, most cases have a headphone jack on the front panel and there is a header on the mobo that you plug into that connects to the front panel headphone jack. According to the manual for your board (MSI USA - Computer, Laptop, Notebook, Desktop, Mainboard, Graphics and more), the front panel audio header is labeled as JAUD1.

You can buy the jack with cable quite easily. Your local repair shop probably has tons of them.

well lets get back to the question, which of these jackstick connecters do i use for my headset?

It is the one called line-out, isn't it? (the circle of red on the far right in the picture, but usually green in real life)

thats the one im using now, but im still wondering if its the right one

Let us also know headset you are using, this page towards the bottom shows you possible to hook to back connector with headphones Z97 GAMING Series motherboards | MSI Gaming Series

Just should at least label them on back, they do not. Have a manual came with it, use your serial number sure you can get one from MSI

Some headsets are also capable of using supplied USB adapter.

If it is green, it is the right one [edit: just discovered that for whatever reason, MSI colored yours red. Yes, it is the right one]. Most headphones/sets use it, but as mentioned, some use USB, etc.

I don't know what kind of headset you have. Sometimes it has multiple lines to accommodate the mic, or it uses USB.

I had a gaming headset with a removable USB Adapter. Why i love this Sound card, so many connections and do not have reach behind PC each time to connect your headphones, but at an expense ! Sound Blaster ZxR - Sound Blaster - Creative Labs (United States)

the manual didnt say which was the main source for audio

Line out can go to a speaker set which may have a headset jack on it, depending on the model you buy.

Red colored output tells you in this picture that it can be used for headgear. Believe the 3 to right of red are for speakers, sort of strange output setup not being marked or color coded well, wondering if it has surround sound, assuming it should for gaming board, meaning the 3 right outputs to 5.1 speakers.
Again listing headset would be helpful for us to know which one you are trying to use having trouble with here.




Second shows it correctly, looks to me as they are labeled in this pic i can't zoom in read it clearly, look closer at back of PC
