I wondered  what the sound quality was like when you record music onto an SD card, so you can play music on other devices with a SD slot. Does anyone do this please.

Just like recording to any other storage device, ie. HDD or or USB.

Exactly. Digital is Digital, either it goes thru or not. Another example would be a cheap HDMI cable is just as good as a n expensive one sound wise. What makes a difference sound wise is sound system hardware and drivers.

Untrue. I bought the absolute cheapest USB 2 stick (£3 for 8gb from Asda) so I could put movies on it to watch from my TV box. It couldn't provide the data fast enough. It would just freeze. I copied the exact same data to a slightly better quality SanDisk one and it was OK.

Video takes heck of more data, specially on HD, even some slow HDDs may have problem, music is much less demanding. Cheap USB memories have problem with USB part, SD cards use built in interfaces. SD cards are also rated in classes by speed and only HD video cameras may need fastest ones. https://www.sdcard.org/developers/overview/speed_class/

I am using SanDisks flash drives to record my music onto but can't use the flash drives on other devices , except for my laptop. I don't know whether there exists any kind of adapter that I could use?

Something like this: Amazon.com: eForCity SDHC / SD / MMC Memory Card Reader to USB 2.0 Adapter, Smoke: Computers & Accessories

Thanks for that :thumb: :dinesh:

Where I come from SanDisk is the cheapest. And the thread starter is asking about music not movies video or HD.

Sandisk is among cheapest here too, I have two micro CD 16GB in the phones and another full size one of 4GB in a camera and all are still going strong for couple of years. Burnt couple of Kingstons though.

I have a 2-3year old 8GB SanDisk cruzer blade that has had atleast 9 persistent Linux distros which means lots of writes and formatting and it's still going strong. They're cheap and dependable like a Levi's jacket.
