    Laptop microphone making static noise.

Hello, recently I was having some issues with my sound on my computer (I could not open my volume mixer) so I was given the advice to run a "sfc/scannow" in CMD. The scan fixed that issue, along with generally making my computer faster (I suspect I had some issues with my hard drive aswell).

The only problem is that now my friends on skype tell me that there is a very unpleasant static sound coming from my mic and that I sound low and muffled. I am using the mic that is built in my laptopt, I have an MSI GT60 laptop.

I have tried uninstalling the microphone using the device manager and then restarting the computer, but that did not work.

    Help is very appreciated.

I went into "handle audiounits" (roughly translated) in the contorl panel, there I went into recording and then I selected my mic. From there I could select a couple of different modes in different frequencies. I chose one called "Channel 2, 24bit, 96000 Hz (Studioquality)" and now the static is much less noticable, but still there.

I have also tried reinstalling my chipset driver now, did not work.

You can try to install Realtek HD Audio Manager and turn on in the control panel at the microphone tab the two options to reduce background noise. Thats how i fixed it atleast.

Yeah I've seen that advice floating around in a couple of other threads, but I don't have it on my computer, and I can't find anywhere to download it. As I said I've tried reinstalling my realtek driver earlier, shouldn't the Realtek audio manager have been reinstalled simultaneously?

Would appreciate a link to where one can download it.

I think the problem is fixed now, the strangest thing happened. I installed a previous version of the realtek audio driver and now I have a completely different set of options to choose from when selecting the microphone in the audio device manager and the static seems to be gone aswell. It is very mysterious but I guess I am marking this thread as solved.
