Surround working, but not everywhere - Realtek

Hello,

So I've recently built my own PC and now I'm trying to use 5.1 surround with a set of speakers I have lying around.
5.1 is working in applications that specifically support it, such as XMBC, where I can enable support in the settings. However, other applications do not play surround sound. So I've tried looking for an option that upmixes default 2.1 sound to 5.1, however I could not find one. Others have suggested to enable the Speaker Fill option, but I can't find it anywhere. Also, this thread (Where Is " Speaker Fill " Option In The New Realtek Sound Manager / Driver ? - Sri Lankan gaming and e-sports community) suggested to use the environments setting but there isn't any in the SupremeFX control panel.

The sound card is a Realtek one, built into my motherboard. My motherboard is an ASUS Maximus VII Ranger, the control panel for the Realtek card is called SupremeFX. I'm using Windows 8.1 x64.

I'm using the latest audio drivers, so I know that can't be the problem.

Any suggestions? If screenshots or further information are needed, I can provide.

Just wanted to say I've found the solution myself after a couple of hours of searching... Turns out you need to enable DTS Connect in the SupremeFX control panel. It's just incorrectly named, but if you turn it on, set the width to max and set it to music mode, everything works fine.
