How-to Enable Stereo Mix in 8.1 ?

What are you using for audio? The VIA audio or an external USB connected device? According to the screen shot, you have or had a USB audio device?
The VIA Stereo Mix is also wrong. That is not the correct device for Stereo Mix.

The Icon for Stereo Mix is different than others I've seen. That is why I thought it is wrong. But, it appears you have Stereo Mix but not enabled and set as default recording device. RIGHT click on the Icon for the VIA Stereo Mix and then LEFT click Enable. That may get it working.
You can't use RealTek or some other sound driver, you must use VIA with a VIA sound chip.
