Sqeaky Mic, Odd surcumstances

Hello,

I recently have upgraded my computer from 4-8 GB of ram (4x2GB) and I've been having an issue of where my mic gets squeaky(I sound like alvin from the chipmunks) on a cold reboot, like in the morning. I know that it could be a grounding issue but I dont think it is. I am currently using a dedicated sound card that I have had no issues with.

This is where I get confused. If I switch both the pairs to new slots, the squeaking persists BUT - If i take on channel out, boot on 4gb it goes away! Add the other 4gb and everything is fine.... Untill another cold start.

So you originally had 2 (2x2GB) added another 2 (2x2GB) ? This happens when new ones are in, but when remove new ones and just older ones are in it's fine ?

If this is correct sounds like bad RAM either the modules has something electronically wrong with it, or if it is not compatible with motherboard, plugging it into the motherboard could put an unexpected load (or short) on the motherboard and cause an increase in current or a drop in voltage on related circuits and/or power supply and that may be affecting your sound/mic. Make sure of no dust or dirt in slots, use compressed air. Make sure there properly seated, check for any other cable may have come loose.

Recheck specs for your boards RAM make sure have correct type of RAM, voltage to of RAM. If correct try returning them.
No specs listed here or in post of RAM or motherboard to give you further help on that, if you supply this info, we can help more determine this.

No, ordered the same brand/type for both channels. 4 2GB sticks. I know they are right for the motherboard, as well the power supply is adequate. I've narrowed it down to maybe the fast start function of windows 8. Used the air compressor to blow the computer out completely as well without the ram in to clear the slots.

My theory is that when it goes to load the saved kernal and loaded drivers it somehow corrupts them causing the issue, and when I take out and boot from only four that kernal and driver setup that was saved for the computer needs to be cleared to accommodate the lesser amount of space, but more importantly it completely resetes the audio driver making it work as it should. That feature as of now is turned off, so we shall see if my theory is right.
