Im sorry upfront I don't know how to look up my specs. My volume randomly turns all the way down to zero on it own! on all devices (headest/speakers). It says all my drivers are up to date. I will reboot and the volume is restored back to 100%.Ive also checked communications tabs and the checkbox 'do nothing' is checked off.This is going to drive me crazy! Please..can someone help??? Im a gamer and right in the middle of playing my volume cuts out and I have to reboot. if you need system specs pls send me a link so that I may provide. Im lost
Without specs its hard to do any specific troubleshooting (however even with specs a problem such as this is hard to troubleshoot).
But, does this happen when any specific programs are running? e.g. you state it happens with games. Does it happen when you are not gaming?
Checking Windows for updates is not the best way. Windows, many times, does not have the latest drivers, due to the Microsoft validation process. Best to get drivers, such as the sound, either from the PC vendor or in the case of RealTek sound, direct from RealTek. This insures you have the correct sound driver.
Also, if you have "High Definition Audio" listed for the PC sound driver, that is incorrect and only the generic, basic function, Windows installed driver. It is not the correct sound driver for your sound hardware.

they are set to cd quality...but now I cant find where it is to turn it down to normal? (im old I forget everything )p.s. it was set to cd quality I turned it down to telephone quality that was the lowest/it happens when im gaming...I never noticed it otherwise
I set my default to 16 bits 44.100. That is the standard "CD Quality" and what I use in my recording studio.
The Realtek HD Audio Manager is in the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound. Click on the Settings Icon (gear) at lower right and then Click Control Panel and finally Hardware and Sound.
However, what you have the quality setting at should not cause the problem you are having.
It apparently is some setting in a game (or games) that is causing the problem. I'm not a gamer and don't know what games you have so I can't really comment on that. However, look at the setup for the game(s) and see if there might be some setting that potentially could cause it.

thank you again for your oh so needed help. I only play one game (WOW World of Warcraft) and have a gut feeling its the game that is responsible for this problem. I will contact tech. support with the game maker Blizzard Entertainment and see what they say. I've always been leery about placing a post in the forums but becuz you have been so nice (and helpful) I've gotten over my posting fear!
