I have a problem with the Windows 8 preview, my audio driver and everything works fine, or so it seems. However when playing music or a game or a movie randomely sometimes often sometimes not the audio will have a slight hiccup or stutter, it does not do this right after a restart but it gets worse the longer the pc is on. If i restart the problem goes away for a bit. This does not happen in win7 for me. Whats the issue? My mobo uses realtec audio

Hi,

Realtek <<< Install HD Audio Codec driver from the right side.
Realtek HD Audio 2.67 audio driver download from Guru3D.com <<< Mirror link to same driver

Very important to update all other drivers too, from manufacturers' sites, especially wireless network and then wired.

If you have 3rd party security installed of any type, uninstall to test.

Cool - in that case I wouldn't mind looking over the system to see what I can find. You can run the tool found in the top most thread in the Crash and Debugging subforum, then attach the zip it makes to here, in a new post.

Your machine suffered from a bsod today, caused by your very old Marvell storage driver:

Code:
3: kd> lmvm mv61xx
start end module name
fffff880`00c19000 fffff880`00c5f000 mv61xx T (no symbols)
    Loaded symbol image file: mv61xx.sys
    Image path: \SystemRoot\System32\drivers\mv61xx.sys
    Image name: mv61xx.sys
    Timestamp: Thu Mar 19 23:48:21 2009 (49C31205)
    CheckSum: 000320F6

    Translations: 0000.04b0 0000.04e4 0409.04b0 0409.04e4

Update him from here: Marvell - Support - Driver Downloads

-------

Visit ASUS site for your motherboard to update this ancient notorious driver:

Code:
ASACPI ASACPI.sys Sun Mar 27 22:30:36 2005

It will be in the Downloads | Utilties section. It's name is ATK0110.

---------

Logitech game (pad, controller?) driver could use an update:

LGBusEnum LGBusEnum.sys Mon Nov 23 20:36:48 2009
LGVirHid LGVirHid.sys Mon Nov 23 20:36:48 2009

--------

AMD Video card driver could use an update:

atikmdag atikmdag.sys Wed Nov 09 21:52:46 2011

AMD Catalyst 12.3 WHQL 32-bit download from Guru3D.com <<< (Or, you can install Windows 8 Consumer Preview driver instead.)

---------

And finally, back to square one. Your Realtek HD Audio driver is ancient:

RTKVHD64 RTKVHD64.sys Fri May 22 14:04:20 2009 (4A16E924)

Update from the link(s) in my first post.

You're welcome and enjoy.

Those preview drivers dont work at all with the 4800 series and thus i had to install the only version that does work for my card, the logitech drivers came with the newest software they provided, and i literally just reinstalled my audio using that link you provided. I got the BSOD when it tried install the marvell drivers directly from the asus site for more mobo. I will try to install the link you provided but other then that there is nothing really i can update.

Sure, the preview driver works for any and all HD cards.

Logitech's site is good to download from.

As far as reinstalling audio, you'll have better success by uninstalling the driver in the device manager while also checking the box to delete the driver. Then run the installer after. Then reboot.

Don't download the ASUS storage driver. Use the link provided.

No the preview driver does not support 4 series cards, ccc will not be installed and will not run, only some watered down install manger is installed with those drivers and my card, the 12.3 will say it installs but ccc will not run, and i did download from logitechs site, when i reinstalled window 8 i got their drivers right away from the site and so if they are old thats their fault. As for the storage driver ill try to install that now

The link I provided for the ATI driver has CCC working well along with it. It was part of the changelog fixes.

"AMD Catalyst Control Center startup issues/ delays have been resolved"

Good deal about storage driver. Don't forget the ATK0110 and special procedure to install audio.

Should be fine, so enjoy. :)

After investigating lots further, I see Marvell themselves do not even offer the driver to support their own hardware.

You can install Version 1.2.0.69 from your motherboard site in this case, because of that: ASUS - Motherboards- ASUS P5Q PRO

It will update the driver to 5/11/2009

Install in safe mode if regular mode has problems.

You're welcome.

I have the 12.3 WHQL installed here well and CCC works fine.

You might be able to get CCC working well if you use Driver Sweeper (not Guru3d version) in safe mode to clear all ATI/AMD files and settings. Reboot and re-install the 12.3.

I had exactly the same problem for weeks and just solved it. Since reading these forums helped me a lot i thought i'd register and tell about it. Audio stutter using built-in realtek sound (using gigabyte ga-p35 ds3 rev 2.0). Had the latest realtek drivers and using the spdif output. I have the x-fi xtrememusic sound card, the hdmi audio output on the radeon hd5750 and asus xonar d2 as well but none of these give me multichannel output through spdif, they all stay 2-channel, except the realtek one, which gives me the alternative of 5.1 DTS for some reason, which stutters.

Just for the heck of it i installed the drivers from gigabytes website, for windows 7 64bit and voila! Now i have all the settings frm windows 7 back with multichannel and no stuttering! it even fixed the hdmi audio of the graphics card! (Before it was listed as "digital output" and now it says "Realtek HDMI output /ATI HDMI Audio").

You can find the driver here if you want to give it a try! It said something about "Azalia" which for all i care made all the difference :p
GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 775 - GA-P35-DS3 (rev. 2.0)
Choose windows 7 64bit and download.
They are updated this year, which was a pleasant surprise.
