Realtek HD Audio Driver(Windows 8.1 version) Issue

Recently I decided to go ahead and update to the Windows 8.1 version of the Realtek HD Audio Driver. I procrastinated because it told me I'd have to uninstall the original audio driver and I knew it would take a while to do everything needed. It didn't help that after uninstalling the original audio driver, then restarting like Windows told me to do, I kept getting error messages that forced my computer to restart until eventually my computer let me log in and install the updated audio driver.

However, with the updated version of this driver I had the same issue I got with the original one only much much worse. The original Realtek HD Audio Driver that I had on my computer made music and videos sound absolutely awful when headphones were plugged in. I found out that this is because the driver automatically puts on so-called "enhancements" whenever headphones are plugged in. This was a very simple fix, simply go to "Sound", then under "Playback" you click on "Speakers", then go to "Enhancements" and check the box labeled "Disable all sound effects." Then sound through headphones would return to normal.

Well, with the Window 8.1 version of this audio driver, I can do the same thing, but it never stays that way. Every time I plug in my headphones, it resets back to having enhancements. The strange thing though is that it says the enhancements are disabled but when I reactivate the enhancements(No difference in sound quality) then deactivate it again, suddenly the sound through my headphones is back to normal.

Did the audio driver not install properly? Is there something I can do to permanently disable the audio enhancements?

Do you have "Realtek HD Audio Manager" in Control panel ? Settings in there override windows settings, also many more options are in there. Did you get new driver straight from Realtek site ?, last version is 2.75.

I didn't have it in my control panel, but I did a search of my computer and found it. How do I override the windows settings from there? And no I didn't get it from the website, I got whatever Toshiba told me to install from their Service Station that's installed onto my computer.

No idea what controls on Toshiba drivers look like but in the Realtek HD Audio Manager in control Panel, under Sound effects you can set whatever you want and even to None. Also has graphic equalizer, settings in that panel will override windows settings.

Both the environment and equalizer panels say "None," though I'm still having the same problem.

Now it's turning enhancements on(without saying so) every time I play different audio through my headphones, regardless of if I just turned it off again a few minutes ago. For example, I could watch a 4 minutes video, then change to another video and the enhancements have been turned back on although it doesn't say enhancements are on. I would really like a solution to this!
