Yeah, a shame. I hear that though.

If you feel like messing about in 8 again, you might want to check all your other drivers in that they are the latest too.

It is very possible for one of them to cause high latency in the audio stack, which would cause the same issue you are having. If you have a wireless adapter, update that first. All manufacturers have drivers available, but if you have Atheros wireless, download from here:

ATHEROS Wireless drivers for Windows

If you have any 3rd party firewalls or antivirus, uninstall to test.

After considering that, play around with this. It is very useful and may lead to your fix:

My AMD M5A78L-M/USB3 Just gives off a crumbling mumbling sound.

Every time I boot up I Get a message that the "VIA HD driver is not compatable with this version of the OS."

I guess it is just another case of waiting for the supplier getting around to provide an updated driver.

I only hope it doesn't take as long as Adobe to provide a 64Bit program ( OOPS I mean an APP!) for Flash Player!!

That OLD 1606 error!

I had to run both 32 & 64 bit IE. One for movies on 32Bit & 64 bit for speed!

WINDOWS 8

Q:
Where can I obtain drivers for Windows 8 for my VIA HD audio chip?
A:
Windows 8 has not yet been formally released. The VIA HD audio driver for Windows 8 is under development and is not available for download at this time. Please check with your motherboard vendor also. Drivers for VIA HD audio chips for Windows 8 will be made available on motherboard vendors' websites once development is complete.

VIA Technical Support FAQ - VIA Technologies, Inc.

so looks like have to wait for them to finish making windows 8 drivers

It was strange on 32 bit, it crackled with both realtek hd and windows hd drivers. As I record alot of internet radio and use my pc for mainly media it was very annoying. Then when I installed the 64 bit the sound was that good on the windows hd drivers that I didn't bother installing the realtec drivers and recording using total recorder is perfect. A bit confusing really

There are Microsoft High Definition and Microsoft WDM Audio drivers to try then. I'd try the first one first, because that's what the guy in the post is talking about "updating" to after.
