I already downloaded this chipset. I dont find my dvd drive yet even if u put in a CD or a DVD.

And about this special tool online for removing my symantec product, where can i find it? Is the MSE provided with this windows a trial version only and will i be able to perform scans and updates?

    net start audiosrv

If that doesn't work, try this from the following link -

    1. Open cmd.exe with Administrator rights
    2. Type in:
    "secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose"
    3. Restart your computer when the process completes

I quickly just re-read the thread, and it is not clear to me if you tried the solution I posted yet or not. There was a screenshot of something different.

About this: "I tried upper filter and lower filters method and restarted the pc only to find them both no longer there." - True, they should be removed as per below.

Can't hurt to check again to see -

(adapt for Windows 8 obviously instead):

    1. Click Start
, and then click All Programs.
    2. Click Accessories, and then click Run.
    3. Type regedit, and then click OK.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
    4. In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    5. In the right pane, click UpperFilters.
    6. On the Edit menu, click Delete.
    7. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
    8. In the right pane, click LowerFilters.
    9. On the Edit menu, click Delete.
    10. When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
    11. Exit Registry Editor.
    12. Restart the computer.

I did not understand the part about a special tool online to remove my symantec product. I have tried out installing the chipset from the link that u provided me with. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} doesnt show upper filters or lower filters at all.

Ahhh, I understand now. Yes, thanks for reminding me. That is high on the list up there with a recommendation to try. I don't want to get your hopes up, but I would say there's a greater than 50% chance removing Norton/Symantec will help, especially considering other known reliable fixes have been exhausted.

You can use Google to search for your specific product's removal tool. For example: "Norton 360 Removal Tool" or "Norton Antivirus Removal Tool"

Download it. Then reboot the machine and while it is booting up, keep pressing F8 on the keyboard until the menu appears. Choose Safe Mode. Run the Removal Tool and reboot to normal mode Windows after completion and see if it helped at all.

Im not able to enter the safe mode by keying in F8. I kept pressing F8 for a number of times but it went straight to home screen. Is it necessary to remove this in safe mode? Or can it be done in the normal mode itself.

I would upload the file you've downloaded to Jotti's malware scan to make sure its clean.

If it is, return to safe mode and run it again. If you can't or don't know how because of what is in your screenshot, Googling will likely help.
