Accidentally deleted my IDT sound driver and can't find it

I accidentally deleted my IDT sound driver for my HP Pavilion G7 laptop. I was going through the programs that I wanted to uninstall and came across the sound driver. Not knowing that it was an important part of my computer, I deleted it. I've tried downloading it again from the internet, but the file isn't working either. My computer is on Windows 8.1 if that helps.

If you just deleted the driver, then reinstalling would work. Apparently more than the driver was deleted.

Rebooting, if no vendor driver was found, Windows will install the generic, basic function, HD Audio Codec.

If that is not installing there are more problems than just the sound, and whatever you uninstalled/deleted must have caused it. if you have a System Restore point that is BEFORE whatever you did, that MAY get you back working. Otherwise, with the OS compromised to the point no sound driver will install it may take a complete reinstall.

Like I said in a diff thread, and what FB says above.

1. windows will reinstall a generic device. 2. Go to the makers for a download, they all have them. 3. Sys Restore. The final option I feel is a bit drastic, to have to do a complete reinstall when, I feel a reboot does the same thing.
