messed up audio playback/microphone with video recording

Don't know what I've done. Wanted to do a video recording using "camera" from my windows desktop. Got tinkering in my audio settings to eliminate background noise cause there was all this "whooshing" wind type sound during playback. Now I have NIL volume on video recordings I do with my computer's app. The playback is so faint...I have done everything I can think of with the DTS audio...put the microphone up to 30.0+ decibels (the dot on the slider is at the top). I've gone into my realtek settings & everything is on full volume. I can't figure this out...I should be getting normal playback-full volume on sound like I was before I got adjusting the andrea filters to eliminate background noise. I unselected all of those, experimented with checking & unchecking one thing or another...still the same. I barely have any volume on playback yet all the volume bars are at 100. It makes no sense...I want to do a video message for my daughter who's expecting her first child to pass along some information about what to expect when you're expecting...& I've completely screwed up my sound recording. Even selecting to restore to defaults has had no effect.

If you have a System Restore point that is BEFORE you did whatever you did, use that as it should fix it.

Hey guys. I discovered that besides VLC player on my laptop all the other video player are not able to work properly (meaning,, Windows Media Player 12, Cyberlink PowerDVD12 and WMPC are able to play only the audio, but not the video, it's just black screen),, BUT with VLC is no problem playing...
This happened completely randomly. My headset was working fine, I could not hear myself in it, then all of a sudden, I can now hear everything I do in it. For example, when I breathe into the mic very softly, I can hear that. I have gone into the recording options and unchecked "Listen to this...
I've spent over three days on this problem and I'm pulling my hair out. My computer came preloaded with Realtek HD Audio Manager, which I suspect is the culprit based on everything I've researched about this issue. Things I've tried: The mic is not muted and the volume levels are maximized ...
Checking my audio quality levels, I noticed my default setting was 24bit 48000hz (studio quality.) Is that a setting I should continue using? The only sound output device i'm using are only a pair of Skullcandy ear phones, in-regards to that i'm assuming such a level isn't needed for playback....
As a court reporter, I use a software (from Stenograph) which records to a .wav file as I write. I have such a severe echo during playback, which makes it impossible to even use this audiosync feature within my software. I am not very computer savvy, so I may need "dummy" type step-by-step...
Firstly Hi, i'm brand new. Secondly, apologies if this has already been covered. I recently purchased a Lenovo G580 from Curry's. My main intention of use is to write and record music on some music recording software. This software hasn't arrived yet, so I was playing around with the Sound...
