Sound Mix conflicting w/ Headset

Hello! I am trying to do some recordings of video games for my friends videos but I am having issues with recording desktop sounds (in other words the game itself) anything I do doesn't work. What I am wanting to do is have stereo mix as my default recording device and have my headset as the communication but my stereo mix is currently unavailable while my headset is default. If my stereo mix is default then it works and my headset is currently unavailable. I really don't understand what is going on. Everywhere I look to fix the problem has nothing for me. I am using Windows 8.1 and have an HP Envy Laptop. I have specs written in my profile. Please help.

Here are some screenshots of the problem.

Normally, when recording system sounds. sounds from programs or streaming audio from the internet - basically what you hear on the PC's speakers or headphones, you need the Stereo Mix and whatever program that you use to recording must be set to record from Stereo Mix.

It sounds like you want to do two different things at the same time, record PC sounds, but also have your gaming mic enabled. May not be able to do that. One or the other.

Maybe someone in the Gaming section of the forum has some input on this.

Thanks for the quick response!
I have everything set up for what I'm trying to record with but my issues persist with the stereo mix being "unavailable". Because of this no matter what is done in the recording software (and I have tried different programs) the stereo mix being unavailable prevents the software from recording system sounds. The programs actually give error codes that point to stereo mix being an issue.

It looks like "you can't get there from here" or in other words with the mic connected and enabled your system can't use the Stereo Mix. Do you have to have the mic connected?

I still don't think it will work the way you want it to work.
