Hey Guys
So i have an Asus laptop running on windows 8 pro. From the past 3 days, whenever I put my laptop on hibernation and switch it back on, the speaker doesnt seem to be working. I am not able to hear anything at all even if the volume is in max.

The only go around is to restart the laptop which is really irritating.

Can anyone please tell me what is the problem.

Thanks
Roshan

Try the below steps:

Step 1. Press F2 as soon as you start the system to enter into BIOS Setup. Make sure that onboard sound is enabled. If that didn't work, proceed to step 2.
Step 2. Go to Control Panel > Device Manager > Right click on the audio driver and press on 'Update' or click on 'Scan for hardware changes'.
Step 3. Alternatively, you can also switch to your sound card manufacturer website and download the latest update, if there is any.

Post back your results after trying all the steps!!

Why did this happen all of a sudden?

Any recently installed software or hardware device could be responsible. Consider installing software only from trusted software.

P.S. Sometime, the audio driver itself gone damage or become corrupt and tricks similar to the mentioned can easily address it.

There isn't any permanent solution as this could happen anytime even after you've updated everything.
Stay away from installing faulty applications, update computer frequently if not regularly, use standard copy of AV Programs etc. are the easiest possible way to stay away from such issues.
