Unable to install latest Realtek drivers
My microphone volume is really low and has been for a long time, I figured I could install the latest drivers to see if it made a difference since I am just using whatever Windows 8 decided to install automatically. Sound is fine other than the microphone volume.
However when I downloaded the Realtek drivers via Gigabyte or the Realtek site itself, it extracts the installer and all just says "Setup.exe has stopped working".
I've tried just seeing if it'll start with compatibility mode but it's still the same, I do not already have any Realtek software installed other than the Ethernet drivers. I'm running Windows 8.1 x64, I've certainly downloaded the 64-bit drivers.
Edit: The microphone uses the audio jacks, not USB.
Would appreciate any advice.

Probably not, was going to be the next step. I did manage to get the drivers to update via device manager, but it resulted in my microphone barely working or having a weird voice changer effect.

Could uninstall and delete driver then reboot. Let Windows do its thing and see if works.
You could have jack or other hardware problem. You have tried other headphones? I know, stupid question but have to ask.

That's what I reverted to, although it still had the microphone volume issue. I guess I'll settle for the issue rather than updating the BIOS. Although it would be nice to find out why the installers just stop working on launch.
