RDP: How to restore audio back to server?

I'm using a W8 Pro box to serve audio and video, but is also used as a sort of HTPC box connected by SPDIF to an audio receiver. Using RDP (Remote Desktop) from another PC allows me to keep audio on the HTPC just fine, provided I tick the box in the options wherein I indicate to keep audio at the server.

However, if I log into the device using an RDP client running on a mobile client (iOS or Android), which does not have the option to keep audio on the server, I cannot restore the audio back to the server after a disconnected RDP session without a reboot of the server PC. It's fine that there's no option to keep audio on the server, but once I disconnect the RPD session from the mobile device, I expect that the audio is restored back to the server. But, for whatever reason, playback is just broken.

Any advice?

Although this has to do with audio, its more an OS/application issue. Consider reposting in one of the other forum sections. I don't know what would be a good section to post in.
