Ok. I recently bought a gaming rig off of trade me (ebay like site) and it came pre installed with windows 8 (not 8.1) Now that I've got it all up and running smoothly I have no sound.
the screen im using is connected via an HDMI cord and seems to be the audio device that my computer is picking up descpite the fact that the screen has no speakers. It doesn't seem to pick up any headphones I connect and installing drivers hasn't changed a thing, it tells me they are all up to date. Codecs have not helped either.
I have tried disabling the screen as a sound option and asking it to show disabled and disconnected audio devices but only the screen comes up. Help please.
