Loudness Equalization? Where did you turn this on? If you did it in the PC sound card, it doesn't make any difference as the Video card has its own internal sound card that generates the HDMI sound. All the sound functions in HDMI are a function of the video card.

What are you connecting the HDMI to? A TV? Surround sound system?

I don't know how your specific video card works, but with mine (an NVDIA GTS450 OC) when I disconnect the HDMI cable and the audio reverts back to the PC's audio (RealTek in my case) any customization is lost in the video card. The same way when I reboot the PC.

    Hi,
It seems that I have the same issue as TonyB on two different Win8.1 PCs (both media centers), each using a different model of the ATI Radeon HD video card (each having an embedded Realtek audio chip). Not only does "loudness equalization" reset upon reboot, so does "speaker fill". Although I do find that the Equalizer setting persists through a reboot.
It would be helpful to find a way to load the desired sound options to a fixed state at boot up. This would be very convenient so that my wife and kids don't have to jump into control panel (a scaring prospect in its own right) every time they want to watch or listen to some sort of media playback or live TV.
Is there a command line control that would enable those options such that I could embed into a batch file which in turn, could be executed at startup?
Is there a way to force those options to become the default and consequently persist through reboots?
The way it is working right now is really frustrating!

I'm running a dual boot system, with Windows 7 and 8.1, and output audio through my monitor's speakers via HDMI. With Windows 7, loudness equalization works, I don't have to constantly adjust the volume because something's suddenly too loud. But for some reason, this isn't the case in Windows 8....
