    speaker fill windows 8?

    Hi,

I have an Asus G750 laptop running windows 8 and I was wondering if there is anyway I can hook up my 5.1 home theater system to my laptop and get it to put out of all the speakers? I know there was a setting in windows 7 called "speaker fill" and it would put out through all the speakers, but I have been searching everywhere online and can't find anything about windows 8 having it. Right now it will only play out of the front 2 speakers and I understand this is because it is in "stereo mode", But there is no configuration to get it to play the same audio out of all the speakers? My sound card has all the updates, but no option for speaker fill :/ can anyone help me?

If the PC does not have 5.1 capability you could get or make a 3 way parallel connector assembly and hook the three leads for the 5.1 system to the one audio output jack on the PC. You won't get 5.1 but all the speakers will work.

I see some adapters to allow multiple headsets from one headset jack, that should work.

Here is one adapter. There are others, just the first one I found doing a google search.

I would love to do that, but I can only get 1 3.5 mm jack is the problem because the receiver only has one set of RCA's to plug into. And all the speakers hook into the receiver via whatever custom port Samsung made to plug them all into it. However there is a Digital Audio in port on the back of the receiver (I would just use the HDMI, but after doing some research I have an HDMI out on my laptop and another HDMI out on my receiver, But that makes it so the 2 won't connect). So is there anyway to get it to work through the Digital audio in port? My laptop has 1 HDMI out, 4 USB 3.0 ports, 1 Thunderbolt port, and then of course the headphone jack. I think there is a cable that's HDMI to digital optical, But not sure if the laptop would even register that there is a 5.1 system there. Much thanks by the way! This has been eating at me for a while now >.<

Or would something like this adapter help put out through all the speakers, using only 1 3.5mm headphone jack?

I don't think that $1.97 device is going to do anything for you. You need a "real" USB connected sound card that has the output you need for the surround system.

@Tim40: Try to check on the subwoofer of your speaker system to see whether it has a switch or a button to change from 5.1 mode to 2.1 mode (or maybe it is on the remote control if your speaker system has one).

If your speaker system supports this 2.1 mode, I think on the back of the subwoofer (where you connect the cables from the satelite speakers) will have 2 input composite jacks for 2.1 mode. These 2 jacks only require 1 cable with 3.5 mm jack for connecting to your laptop.

If so, use a cable that one end is a 3.5 mm jack (connect to your laptop) and the other end is two composite jacks (connect to the appropriate jacks on the subwoofer), then switch your speaker system to 2.1 mode. All the speakers will work (front left and rear left will serve as left speaker; front right and rear right will serve as right speaker; center will serve as both left and right) .

    Hope this help .
