Add Sound Enhancements to Windows 8

Hi.

I was wondering if it's possible to get sound enhancements on a computer that doesn't have them built in. What I mean by this is when you go to Volume Mixer > (click the audio device) > Enhancements tab, you see things like Bass Boost and Pitch Shift. If a computer doesn't have these options, can I get them to work in order to change the pitch, for example? If it can't be done, what third party application can I use to change the pitch of the audio coming out of the speaker so everything sounds squeaky? Is there a program or setting that does that? Also, the computer had Beats Audio with Beats Audio Control Panel.

Most multimedia players have their own settings for sound, did you try thru them ?

According to what I can find (and its sketchy) this has "Intel Panther Point PCH - High Definition Audio Controller". Nowhere do I find that this comes with the Beats Audio. The only Beats Audio I can find is what comes with certain model HP computers.

Assuming the Intel audio is correct, unless Intel has an updated driver with audio enhancements, you may be out of luck.

I know that the ASUS laptops don't come with Beats Audio. I'm talking about a different computer than mine and it is a new HP laptop. What was different is that it has Beats Audio. Usually, to increase the pitch or do some other enhancement to the sound, you can do what I said above or access the Realtek HD Audio Manager via Control Panel > Hardware & Sound and change the Karaoke setting under enhancements. However, the Beats Audio computer has a Beats Audio Control Panel that does not contain enhancements/effects at all, and I really want them for the HP computer.

So, would it help to install Realtek audio drivers and then maybe the enhancements will come up, or will it affect the existing drivers? Should I uninstall the Beats Drivers first in order to switch to Realtek or am I really stuck with the default boring audio drivers that don't have nice effects that Realtek provides?

You can't install RealTek drivers if you do not have a RealTek audio chip in the PC. You can only install the drivers from the actual chip vendor (or from PC vendor for the specific chip), or the generic basic function Windows HD Audio Codec. However, the Windows HD Audio Codec does not have any sound enhancements.

There are several software add ons such as the Beats Audio. Creative has a SoundBlaster MB software enhancement which is similar to the Beats. A quick google search doesn't turn up any 3rd party add on for what you want.

Any HP Beats Audio laptop would need the HP audio drivers from their site. I believe that HP uses IDT audio for a lot of their laptops.

Yes that is what I am looking at and on one computer I see Enhancements, which is what I am looking for, but the second computer has "Tone Controls" in instead.. I want a way to get the enhancements there somehow.

Hi. Which audio drivers exactly? Would it help if I downloaded the IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver for Microsoft Windows 7 and Windows 8 from HP.com? Here is the link: http://bit.ly/17FMarl

I'm wondering maybe this will add the enhancements through the installation, or is it just for some fixes?

HP doesn't specify what each driver installation is for, so I'm confused by their website. Somebody help..

Maybe go to WalMart & get a cheap set of Logitech speakers or headset.
My headphones (with microphone) are Logitech.
Plug them into the second computer & see if you get the enhancements available.

If the enhancements are not there in the PC already, a headset is not going to provide any audio enhancements.

I have 2 headsets.
Realtek & Logitech.

Each shows different enhancements:





If the enhancements are not there, why do the 2 different brands show their own different enhancements ?

These are not the standard analog headsets. I didn't know USB headsets had that.

I have the same problem(hp/speakers:realtek hd audio), Sony Vaio with Windows 8.1 x64. I have the enhancements tab, but there is only choice :"reset all enhancements". But there are no enhancements Does it means that there is no chance to get them?

Ha, managed that. After trying a dozen of realtek drivers(one designed for lenovo worked with few enhancement options) I used microsoft driver which gave a wide range of options, including EQ,pitch, environment,etc
