Sounds cuts out after a couple minutes, I pause then ok?

Windows 8.1, Toshiba Satellite L745

It was originally windows 7, then I upgrade to 8, then the 8.1 preview evaluation copy. I think I started having sound issues when I went to 8.1. I will play for a couple minutes then cut out. If I pause for a few seconds then play the sound works for a few more minutes. The sound works fine when I'm using HDMI to the television or on headset. Could there be a hardware/motherboard issue since it's the speakers that are cutting out? Could it be an 8.1 issue? Thanks for your help

Could be 8.1. 8.1 has caused some audio systems to stop working or be intermittent. Check Toshiba for any updated 8.1 drivers and if there is none, reinstall the Win 7/8 available driver from Toshiba.

HDMI is different and either the HDMI has its own "sound card" or it uses S/PDIF digital connection and not the actual PC's sound card.

I just updated to the actual 8.1 from preview and it still does it. I think I tried updated drivers, but I'll check. Maybe they didn't have them for windows 8 or 8.1 when I checked.
