Cannot Set Default Audio Device Windows 8

Hello,

Last night I restarted my computer and for some reason when I booted it back up I was not able to use my headsets sound. I went through the settings disabling audio drivers and nothing worked, I also tried to change the default audio device but that wouldn't work either. For some reason I can't change any audio settings when i press OK and open back up the windows the settings are the same. This is very annoying and not much about this is on the internet.

The thing that puzzles me that everything was working fine until I restarted my computer. I am also comfused why windows won't let me change my default audio device under the playback devices menu.

Help would be appreciated thanks

Here is the forum tutorial on using System Restore. Since it worked and now does not, use System Restore and restore it back to an available restore date when it did work properly.
