Solved IDT Audio HP ENVY dv6 needed. Accidentally uninstalled

I accidentally uninstalled IDT audio on my HP ENVY dv6. I searched the internet for the driver and the closest I found was
HP ENVY dv6-7300 Quad Edition Notebook PC series -  IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver - HP Business Support Center

But it did not work for me and I have no idea why. Can someone please offer a solution?

The HP site is the place to download the driver. Drivers from other sources or for non-HP PC's may not work. The sound driver you referenced appears to be the correct one.

What happened when you installed the sound driver you referenced? Did it install? or did it abort? or did it give you some error notice?

At first the installation seems to run smoothly until I get a message during the "Configuring IDT Audio Driver and Applications" segment. The message says " The hardware detected is not supported by this IDT software package. The install will be aborted."

What the exact make/model of your HP laptop? Example....HP Envy dv6-7210us

I actually am not sure what model my laptop is. Is there a way I can find out through my computer?

It should be on a tag on the PC. Could be on the bottom, could be in the battery compartment.

There isn't anything on the surface of my laptop.

I've downloaded the program you suggested. I checked under the category of CPU, but the best I can find is this

What does it list for audio?

Try the free Belarc Advisor and see if it lists it. It has a section for system model information. Belarc Advisor - Free Personal PC Audit, for software, hardware and security configuration information on your computer. Software license management, IT asset management, cyber security audits, and more.

For audio it says:
sound car --> Intel Display Audio
That's all it says under audio.

Using the link you posted, I found this under system model:

System serial number is also stated but I thought it would be irrelevant.

This is what I came up with that model number for the IDT audio

This one didn't install and it actually didn't give me an error message either. The install shield wizard closes on its own and there is no further response.

If it helps, it is beats audio. Says it on the top left corner of my computer, just above the screen.

I looked at the listed DV6 -7300 models and didn't see Beats Audio listed in any of them. I did see Beats Audio when looking before but it may have been for a different model. Beats Audio is not the sound driver, its just an "enhancement" to the basic PC audio.

Those sites such as the driver identifier usually want $$ to download and they are not always correct.

Thanks it even stated the driver needed and the version of it. I was able to google it and I was set from there. Thank you very much. I'm new to this forum . I have just given you a thumbs up and I don't know if there is any other way to thank you.
