I just got a whole Kenwood VR-209 Surround System with the 15" Woofers, Center Speaker and Rear Sperakers, the 200-Disk CD Changer, Dual Cassette deck and everything that came with it, for a very good low price.
So, I plugged my HDTV into the "Video 2" Dolby Digital/PCM using an RCA Coax Cable - Which sends the PCM Output into the receiver, ok, got that done.
But one of my computers connects via the stereo audio Line Cable from the back of the PC, and that system uses the RGB Video for the HD Video. So I am not expecting any Surround Sound from that (this) system.
But my Media system, uses a GEForce 210 which has the Digital Output on the HDMI cable. When I set it up in Media Center, it sends the 5.1 to my TV, but from the main Audio Output, there is no Surround Sound available. There is also a Falcon Tuner Card in there, but I never use it because I can't use it- I'm missing the Remote so it can't be set up. I was using it to Capture my TV from my Cable Box, but it's not so good.
It used to be when I set up the Audio Output for the HDMI in Windows 7, I had the choice of setting up 5.1 - But in Windows 8, it's gone, I can only choose Stereo.
Any ideas where my 5.1 output went to? When I use the forced/fake Surround Headset mode in VLC, it sends to all speakers, but it's not real 5.1. Is there some setting somewhere I'm forgetting to check?
