does window 8 have an audio output device; I wrote before of 2 audio services that say they running but when you hit properties it is stopped and the other is window endpoint. I do not have any audio output . I could be wrong

Yes, the Inspiron 660 has the Conexent integrated audio device.

Check the Sound Panel to see if the "Speakers" (the Conexent) is listed. Also is the Conexent listed in the Device Manager? or if it has any audio listed is it the "HD Audio Codec", which is the windows installed basic function sound driver and not the full feature Dell driver.

Without more info, if the Conexent isn't listed, download and install the Dell Conexent driver for Win 8. Driver Details | Dell US

BTW, and I've mentioned this before, you should remove your service tag number from the My System Spec's. Dell considers this personal information and it could be used in non appropriate ways by someone. On the Dell forums, the service tag number is forbidden and if someone posts it a moderator will remove it (I did support on the Dell forums for 10 years).

I have a speaker Conexant smart audio HD, as far as audio goes is that all I need. The reason I asked is I get speaker sound but no window start up sound. If that I need. thank you.
