So i want to have a different output for 2 Programs. Problem: Both have not an option to change the audio device. One is: WiMP. Second is: World of Tanks. I want my Game to go to my Speakers (example) and my Music to my Headset (example). Though, none can be configured. So i looked up a bit, and found ALOT of programs that can do this. Though: None work for Windows 8. I found for example: Virtual Audio Cable or some others. None works for Windows 8. If you know a program that can assign Audio to a special Output for Windows 8, please tell me. Thanks :thumb:

Windows will only allow one default sound device. I don't think you can do what you want.

I have not tried this myself as I do not have windows 8 on my desktop, only on my laptop.

But heres a quote and link to a possible resolution..

The ONLY way this can be accomplished from within Windows is if one of the programs you are using allows you to select a non-default sound output.

For instance, for 99% of what I do, I use my default output device to output sound to my TV. For music, I have Winamp configured to output to my G35 headset instead. In this case, I can have two output streams at the same time.

2 Separate Audio Stream Outputs From 1 Computer - Sound Cards - Components

I don't think it's doable as you only have one audio card. Once you use the headphone jack, it will disable your PC speaker and audio will come out of the headphone. I wanna do a test though because I have an external audio card which can be connected via USB. It has it's own audio ports - 7.1 channel optical and stereo headphone. I will see if I can separate the sound between applications by assigning an audio card to each programs (if that is possible). I am thinking that it may disable my onboard audio card if I connect it but I will check.

Yup! It can be done. I was able to separate default PC sound from Windows Media Player (music sound) using an external audio card. You have to have a separate audio card to make it work.
You can leave your games to use the default audio device on your PC. What you need to change is the audio device for sound playback on Windows Media Player. In my case, I selected the USB sound device and plugged my headphones there.

I think this will also work with a USB headset. The PC will recognize it as a separate audio device. I will try that to with my logitech usb headset.

That is exactly what i have to. I have an USB headset, that is being recognized as 2 Inputs. But none of the programs i use, can be configured to another output.
