Acer 8930g and 5.1 audio problem

    Hi,

I've installed Win 8 64bit on my Acer Aspire 8930g laptop, in January. Till recently, the 5.1 sound was ok. A couple of weeka ago, the central speaker is silent, the front left & right speakers are very low, the two back speakers and the sub are ok. I tried un-install and re-intall all audio drivers (Realtek HD audio & Nvidia digital audio) but the problem remains.

    Any help??
    Thanks.

What type of 5.1 surround is it, make and model? Have you checked the physical connections to make sure they seated fully and no loose connections?

The 5.1 is from the laptop's sound system/speakers

Are you hooking up some external speakers to it? As far as I know laptops only have 2 speakers, which can use/produce 5.1 surround speaker set up. According to your specs it confirms this..."True 5.1-channel surround sound output", under sound sub system.

Yes, you're right. When I configure teh speakers from Playback devices/configuration, I have the 5.1 sound system, test every speaker and face the referred problem.

    Win 8 64bit

    Hi again,

After many hours of testing, I re-installed Windows 8 64bit, clean installation. Before that I visited a computer technician in order to be sure that speakers and physical connections are ok.
After re-installing windows, I installed the latest Realtek HD audio driver (64bit_Vista_Win8_Win8_R271) but the problem still remains. the center speaker is silent and the front left & right speakers are very low.

I don't know what else to do. Can anyone help??

    Thanks

I have the same problem, also clueless. It's not ideal to have 5.1 Cinematic Surround sound and no drivers to support it.

Some help would really be appreciated.

it was so annoying i was searching every forum for hours until i came with a solution
and i just registered to answer
the only thing you have to do is A)download the latest drivers, i downloaded the ones from 8935G for WIN7 but i think older ones should work too and B)open realtek hd manager, go to sound effects and choose "Room" voila!!!! audio works crystal clear

    Hi Nikokin

Thanks for going through the effort to register, i tried your solution but i still have the same problem, it's like not all the speakers are playing, and i cant think it to be a hardware problem. so I'm still having this issue.

thanks again for the reply and I'm glad it worked for you

Are you connecting your laptop to an AV Receiver with HDMI?
